OTR Driver & Art Handler

Location: Hub is Houston, TX

ANR is seeking a dependable, safety-focused OTR Driver & Art Handler to join our specialized fine-art logistics team. This role combines long-haul commercial driving with professional art handling, packing, installation, and client service.

The ideal candidate is an experienced commercial driver who takes pride in careful work, exceptional attention to detail, and respectful interactions with clients and team members. You will help transport, protect, and install valuable artworks—including paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media pieces—for galleries, collectors, museums, corporations, and residences.

Position Overview

The OTR Driver & Art Handler is responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles over long distances, often as part of a two-person driving team, while ensuring the secure handling and transportation of fine art. This position requires sound judgment, strong communication skills, physical capability, and a commitment to the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Driving & Transportation

• Safely operate tractor-trailer combinations and other commercial vehicles for local and over-the-road assignments.
• Drive long distances and remain on the road for extended periods, including work as part of a two-person team.
• Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Follow all company logistics policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing the safe operation of commercial motor vehicles.
• Maintain secure, stable, and organized loads throughout transport.

Fine Art Handling & Logistics

• Pick up, deliver, and handle a variety of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media works.
• Properly wrap, pack, crate, load, brace, span, and tie down artwork to protect it during transportation.
• Inspect artwork as requested and assist with documenting its condition.
• Prepare accurate condition reports and photographs as needed.
• Complete inventories, bills of lading, and other required documentation accurately and thoroughly.
• Maintain a working familiarity with basic art terminology and professional art-handling practices.

Installation & Client Service

• Professionally install artwork in corporate, residential, gallery, and other settings.
• Select appropriate installation hardware and apply sound aesthetic judgment when positioning artwork.
• Participate in company-provided training for art installation techniques and standards.
• Represent ANR professionally when interacting with clients, collectors, curators, contractors, and other industry professionals.
• Communicate clearly, respectfully, and confidently with a highly educated and detail-oriented client base.

Teamwork

• Work effectively with a driving partner and larger crews, adapting to changing job-site needs.
• Demonstrate strong situational awareness and a willingness to both lead and take direction.
• Support efficient, seamless completion of all transportation, handling, packing, and installation assignments.

Qualifications

• Valid commercial driver’s license appropriate for operating assigned vehicles.
• Minimum age is 25 with 2 years verifiable driving experience
• Ability to meet applicable DOT and company driving requirements.
• Experience operating tractor-trailers and driving long-haul or over-the-road routes preferred.
• Strong safety record and knowledge of CMV regulations and safe-driving practices.
• Experience in art handling, moving, logistics, packing, crating, or installation is preferred; training may be provided for qualified candidates.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and paperwork accuracy.
• Professional communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to lift, carry, maneuver, and install artwork and related materials safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Flexibility to travel extensively and work variable hours based on transportation and client needs.
